We did it! 3-1 Win
The complete team was back, and the opposition was allegedly suffering due to Argentina's loss in the world cup overnight. Apparently, one of the boys was very distraught. It was very interesting to see how the completed team faced them!
Michael was in goals first half and when he had to react, he did so perfectly!
The game started as a contest of ball skills and hard tackles.
Our first goal came from a perfectly hit corner from Luke straight onto the foot of Anthony and it went in the air past the goalie (spectaculor to watch). Corpus Christies goalie was huge, and very good! Many shots at goal where saved.
Matthew was having a fantastic game - great ball skills, passing and tackling. Alen was back and showing us why we missing him so much - with his precise turns, runs and always looking for a player to pass it to.
Anthony did some passing - and also scored a fantastic goal by running the ball from half way and shooting at speed. Brilliant!
Hudson was a little distracted in the first half, but second half he was awesome - he was a fantastic soccer player!
Bailey did very well - had some great runs and did not let anything stop him, he got through so many tackles! So close to a few goals too!
Michael is a very consistent valuable player and almost got a goal. He plaus so well, I just waiting for another goal from him!
Alen got the 3rd goal - waiting perfectly in front of the goal mouth, timing his shot. Well done Alen!
Luke got man of the match for a good performance all round - he's even been saying that he almost did a David Beckham from half way!
Matthew went into goals second half and did a couragous job! Very focused and saved quite a few - even one off the post. Unfortunately one slipped in - but Corpus Christie were a formidable team!
Thanks to Bailey's parents for volunteering for the shirts this week. A reminder - if you have the shirts, you do oranges - easy!
Please Note: I've been having some trouble at training with a few boys. Some of the boys are getting a little unruley and not respecting their team mates. They are all eager to play, and it's not about winning, but seems to be more a personal issue (or clash) with each boy. I can only discipline them in the rules that I'm governed and the worst I do is to tell them that I will talk to their parents. Marty and I have spoken and decided that we need to reiterate respect for the other players, and the pep talk on Saturday did make a difference. Could all parents please enforce the players rules that the club distributed. If you need another copy please let me know. I know we can get through it.
