HHSC 7B Soccer Team

After a break from the school holidays, and limited training - the whole team turned up on a day that I thought would be cancelled!

It was raining all night and all morning and I called Marty (who had the shirts and oranges) to get a second opinion. I'm so glad he convinced me that we should all get down to the field, let the boys play in the rain because it was one of the best games yet! Everyone showed up too - I was very happy about that!

Thank you to Marty to looking after training on Thursday - even if it was for only Bailey and Luke. Bailey and Luke ended up putting up a great performance today!

There has been a second regrading done over the holidays. Our results indicate that we are now playing with the best teams in the Under 7 comps. Remember that this competition is classified as 'Non competitive' which means no semi finals, finals or trophies at the end of the year - that comes when the boys get older.

We played Hornsby RSL Youth today - the 7A team - and they had equal results - All wins bar one! Alen got into the goal first half and was a STAR! He saved 2 goals that FOR SURE I thought were going in.

The game started with Michael and Hudson excelling! They both were up the front and putting pressure on the oppenents defense! Bailey also had a few attempts at goal! We were playing up hill and spent most of the half near their goal! Anthony was playing very well - passing the ball and half way through the first half scored an amazing goal from way out! Matthew played a great half - passing, clearing and tackling! Luke was eager but used his arms a little too much!

Second half it was Anthony's turn to go in goals and he impressed me again with his skill to choose whether to use his foot - to pass the ball and his HUGE kicks out of the goal mouth! Excellent play Anthony!

During the game I was very careful to make sure that all players got equal play - so many substitutions were made. Whoever goes in goal first half normally gets to play most of the second half.

Alen's skills were superior to the goalie of Hornsby RSL - taking time to stop, turn then shoot - WOW! 2-0 WOW! Bailey was trying so hard, and Luke had got control of his arms and almost scored a few times from way out. Matthew did some game saving tackles, and Hudson also came close to scoring again! Michael also just missed out!

All the parents of both team were crouched under umbrella's and cheering for the boys playing in the drenching rain! The boys were managing to master the slippery conditions and made me very proud indeed!

It was great to see every boy - Hudson, Michael, Luke, Matthew, Anthony, Alen and Bailey work as a team today. We have some star players and they are all team players - which makes my volunteer position so rewarding!

Man of the Match went to Bailey for so much heart. All the boys need a big hug for playing during the rain.
