HHSC 7B Soccer Team

Wow, this morning's game was great!

When we arrived, the other team's coach had cones out and was doing drills. After the re-grading we've really been put with the good teams. I remember the Corpus Christi Hawks team from last year, and they have some very talented players!

We miss Alen - but I did manage to bring 2 substitutes from the 7A's - Ryan and Kye. I coached both of them last year and knew of their talents.

I decided that it would be great to have Kye in goals first half to give our players a good run on the field, and then to put Ryan on as a sub in the second half.

Right from the whistle the opponents where in our half and pushing hard. We did some great defense. Matthew was playing his best game ever! A hard kick through the pack caught Kye of guard and went in near the post. 0-1 down.

Shortly after that a breakaway from Bailey and the most amazing in air goal past the goalie to tie the score 1-1.

Hudson was doing great - tackling and running the ball, Luke and Michael were getting into the action, and Anthony was all over the field being a fantastic defender and running the ball up. The opppenents where so tough - we just couldn't break through.

Corpus Christi Hawks got a break away and snuck another one in. 1-2 at half time.

The second half Bailey went in the goals and did a great job! A diving save and also some great kicks. Ryan got a run and worked very hard - taking the ball from players at every opportunity. Anthony tried hard and nearly got a couple, and Ryan just missed one too.

The most amazing moment though of the season : Luke passed it back to Matthew and Bailey passed it to Anthony - 4 passes - back and around the pack. Wow - that made me so proud.

The second half was goalless, but it was a fantastic game and I feel very proud of how the boys played.

Man of the Match went to Matthew - as he really did have his best game ever.

Thanks to Marty for Ref'ing the second half and also for Marty and Leonie doing shirts and oranges. Michael's mum Debbie is doing shirt and oranges for next week.
